It’s a banner year for salmon around the San Juan Islands so its a banner year for seeing Orcas.  Here I am with L pod (I think) There were about 20 whales all around us. We did not get good photos. The last photo is a male as he is descending. If his full dorsal fin were exposed it would be 6 feet out of the water. Its mighty big next to a kayak and really you get to see the full awe of these creatures from water level. We are safe. The Orcas are looking out for us!
